Insurance companies seemingly know everything about us, but what do we really know about them? For most people, not much, I would venture to say.
We began our saga with insurance cancelations in 2020, we were informed our insurance company of many years had decided to not provide coverage any further. Nope we had not filed any claims. We soon learned that our only option would be the California Fair Plan. Yes, our home was not far from Lake Arrowhead in a small mountain community called Twin Peaks. Never had a fire there or at least one that I could locate going way back and we are literally only minutes away from very capable Cal Fire aircraft based in San Bernardino. No matter, we were canceled. We weren’t the only ones, many home owners from across the mountain had the same thing happen to them.
One of our long time friends had been with Allstate for 50 years when she received her final cancelation notice. 50 years!
I was one of a number of many who received out to CDI and Commissioner Lara. Lots of talk and assurances, but the history of the last 7 years speaks loudly.
Insurer Track’s Mission:
To provide a fully verified, yet completely anonymous way for policy holders to provide information about their property and insurance experience safely and securely, while creating the ability for us to compile the information and offer direct reports on specific insurance companies and the city where the property is located for every consumer to view. And we intend to take it a step further, we will identify the individual agent (assuming you are working with an agent and not talking to AI or a person in a call center) whether that agent is independent or captive. Our experience has been that there can be a huge difference depending on the actual agent you are talking to. Not necessarily a component that is routinely captured when insurance companies are judged in aggregate.
